WMRT Presidents Letter | End of Season & Banquet | Mar 20, 2022

WMRT President's Letter

Date:     3/20/22

Well that was quick!

After a season (20/21) without races, championships, post season events, tailgates, and a banquet, it was great to return to a more normal season! One thing that stuck out for me this season were the smiles. It seemed every picture posted, or group of kids at a start or finish or in the lodge was filled with smiles and laughter. And that’s what all of this is about!

While today is our last official day of training and racing there is still plenty of snow at Wachusett and we have the End of Season Banquet two weeks from today to look forward to.

Pond Skim - Also on the 3rd is the Mountains Annual Pond Skim - Click here for more information

Registration is from 10:30 to 11:30 across from Customer Service, and the start time 12:00pm.

Lets get some WMRT Athlete and Parent representation out there!

Banquet - On Sunday April 3rd we will be having our End Of Season Banquet where we will celebrate the 21/22 season with dinner, awards both serious and silly, and bid our graduating seniors good luck on their next chapter.

Registration - will be up on AdminSki (the same site we register for races) shortly.

Cost:

Adults 13+ - $30,

Children 12 and under - $16,

Coaches - $0

Slide Show - If you have pictures you’d like to include in the banquet slideshow please add them to this google drive:

Google Slide Show

Raffle - we’ve got an amazing list of items in this years raffle. So bring your wallet and take chances on some great items and support the club at the same time.

It was said to me many years ago by another parent that “WMRT is my winter family”, and there’s a lot of truth in that statement. Thank you all for being part of that family, and making the return to a normal season so much fun!

Regards,

Scot Haigh

WMRT President

This letter will also posted to the Team News Section of the website.

WMRT Presidents Letter | DualSTAR & Banquet | Mar 12, 2022

WMRT President's Letter

Date:     3/12/22

It’s to believe that this is the last weekend of Tri-State racing, and we’re setting the clocks ahead. Below are some updates and volunteer opportunities as we head into the final days of the season.

2021/22 Season Last Day of training - March 20

DualStar - March 13 - Tomorrow - Gyale Joseph the voice and brains behind NASTAR at Wachusett has invited WMRT athletes and parents to join the fun tomorrow. The wachusett Race Dept will be running a Dual Course for Day NASTAR from 10:30-1:30!! During this special Day NASTAR we will be hosting a group that Terry Xie organizes and brings to Wachusett. "This race is targeted at the Chinese community on the East Coast to promote Snowsports and Wachusett Mountain in this particular minority group. Last time we had racers from five different states competing in the race. This is the only of its kind in the whole Chinese Community in the US as far as we know."

End of Season Banquet - It’s Back!! After a 2 year hiatus we will officially wrap up the 2021/22 season on Sunday April 3, from 4 to 8pm in the Granite Room at Wachusett Mountain. Ticket prices and the menu will be announced shortly. The Banquet will be on the same day as the annual pond skim, so let’s have some fun with that! We’re looking for some parents to step up and volunteer (credit will be given) to help coordinate this event and work during the event. Work will involve collecting entry tickets, selling raffle tickets, pulling and coordinating the raffle winners, and probably a couple other things.

Pond Skim - We’re looking for some WMRT participation and some Parents (3 to 4) to volunteer to make this a fun event for the athlete participation. Thinking awards for…. some type of competition for… Volunteer Credit will be provided for those who step up. Awards can be presented during the banquet.

Pond Skim - Event Information Link

Board Next Year - Please consider joining the Board next year. We are a not for profit 501 c3 organization run by parent volunteers. Without parent volunteers giving generously of their time WMRT would cease to exist.

Scot Haigh

WMRT President's Letter

Date: 11/2/21

I hope you had a great Halloween and your athletes are ready to work off the peanut butter cups and kit kats. This Sunday we kick off the season with our first Dryland Training and the Parents Meeting.

Athletes and coaches should plan to meet outside the Granite Room, between the lodge and Ski Patrol at or before 9am.

Athletes should wear comfortable athletic clothes and shoes and be dressed for the weather - cool, warm, dry, wet. Sneakers or comfortable hiking boots are the preferred footwear - something to stand up to dry/wet trail conditions.

The Parents Meeting will be inside the Granite Room at 9:30am.

Passes - If you, or your athlete need a season pass, please add your name to the google sheet at the following link - Season Pass List. If you think you added your name to the list check. I will be submitting this to the mountain Wednesday evening.

Parents/New Parents Meeting Agenda:

  • 9:30 – Overview / Update

  • 10:00 – Head Coaches Update

  • Mountainside Update

  • 10:30 - New Parents Meeting
