ABOUT WMRT

Quality Junior Alpine Training and coaching is perceived to be the exclusive domain of our northern New England neighbors. Yet, we understand through proper scheduling, creative facility usage, and age-appropriate training schemes that we can provide an exceptionally upbeat, positive, and accelerated learning opportunity for your young junior ski racer right here in the greater Boston area. We are committed to offering a team environment, which generates pride in participation. Whether just beginning as a new ski racer or aspiring toward a faraway dream, we will strive to meet your needs. We want your ski racer to be excited, motivated, and looking forward to their next day of skiing. You have our commitment. We’re glad to have you with us!

Affiliation:  WMRT is a USSA (United States Ski and Snow Board Association) certified junior alpine race organization.  As a member of Eastern USSA and TARA (Tri-State Alpine Race Association), we adhere to its training guidelines and racer development programs,  racecourse setting guidelines, and equipment specifications.

WMRT is a 501c3 not-for-profit,  parent-run organization.  We ski and train at Wachusett Mountain Ski Area. Wachusett offers modern high-speed lifts, state of the art snowmaking, and complete skier services. Being the closest big mountain to Worcester, Boston & Providence, Wachusett’s convenient location makes it easy to reach for training sessions and races. With Wachusett as our home, you’ll love being a part of our team. Come see why.

At WMRT, we have a race program to fit your young athlete’s goals and schedule. We want to share with each youngster the joy and excitement of alpine ski racing in a fun, healthy, supportive environment. Each athlete (and parent!) is important to us. We keep you informed. We educate. We update. We understand your commitment to be involved. Our job is to answer your questions. We want your youngster to excel. We want you to be proud of being a member of WMRT.

WMRT is for youths age 8-20 with already established skiing skills.  Age, skill, and ability appropriate training schemes are organized to ensure your young athlete’s learning success. Our programs offer from 1 to 4 days per week of structured learning and ski racing. Weekly weekend on snow sessions begins in late November. For more information please check out our WMRT Participation Guide and our FAQ Documents.

Mission Training
The Wachusett Mountain Race Team will provide excellent alpine race programs, coaching, competition, and support in a cost and time-effective manner. Our primary focus is to develop strong base level skills to allow the skiers to competently participate at USSA club level ski races while promoting self-esteem, good sportsmanship, and team cooperation. The WMRT skier will develop a long-term enjoyment of alpine racing along with competitive and technical skills to enable them to compete at a collegiate level if so desired.

Our organized sessions are focused on the mastery of alpine skiing fundamentals and race preparation. Individual attention within a group setting is our priority.

Participants will have the opportunity to race at home and away. Our ski racers join USSA and will race in skill-appropriate age group competitions. Our junior alpine race training prepares young athletes to qualify for local, state, regional, and even international levels of competition.

Coaches Volunteering
We feature a certified staff of USSCA and PSIA coaches. The team of alpine racing coaches provides successfully proven organized training schemes. We hire and maintain a paid, professional staff, offering a refreshing balance of youthful enthusiasm, knowledge, and maturity. Utilizing modern training methodologies and techniques, our staff offers the leadership, experience, and knowledge to assist every athlete, at every level. At WMRT, everyone has the opportunity to be involved.  Socialize with parents and coaches on the mountain and on breaks.  There's a volunteer opportunity for every skill experience level for ski races at the home mountain, from registration to live race timing.
